Teq DTC - Google Educator Basics Session 15 - Sharing/Publishing

Teq DTC: Google Educator Basics Session 14 - Collaboration & Drawings

Our fourteenth session of the Google Educator Basics Certification is where we will begin to focus on the student functionality and usability of the Google apps. Our earlier sessions built familiarity and workflow awareness for each of the apps, and throughout this session, we will take a look at various examples of how students can take ownership of their learning using a number of Google tools. Focusing in on Drawings, we will discuss various methods to increase collaboration and creativity among students for successful group-related activities and enhance communication with teacher and peers.

In session thirteen we will explore the ways to share your students work with the community, more specifically using Sites. We will share with you examples of the many ways Sites can be used by the classroom teacher and discuss the differences between Classic Sites and New Sites. Google Forms

Google Forms: Quizzes

Who says quizzes can only be taken with pen and paper?  Teachers can now create assessments within Google Forms to allow students to complete tasks at their own pace.  In this session, our PD specialists will demonstrate how this feature allows teachers to see a summary of results to determine individual students’ or the whole class’ comprehension level.  In addition, we will discuss how teachers can determine what information is made visible to students upon completion.

 

Age of Exploration with Google Tours

Join us for another session of Teq Online PD as we use Google Earth Tours to recreate the routes of three famous explorations in History: Columbus’s journey to the new world, Lewis and Clark's quest for westward expansion, and Amelia Earhart's brave flight around the world! Google Sheets Functions

Google Sheets Functions are cell formulas that manipulate and calculate data. See how you can use Google Functions in your classroom to quickly split and sort data, calculate weighted averages with survey data, and add images to spreadsheets. You will also learn how Sheets Functions can be used to create usernames, passwords, or emails for class websites!

Going Further with Google Earth

In this course, we will highlight some of the more advanced features of Google Earth to enhance curriculum connections. We will feature a number of valuable resources to use in conjunction with the Google Earth software, like Google Lit Trips. Google Apps - Slides

During this session of Google slides participants will learn how to create a slides presentation that includes a variety of content options such as text, images, animations and links. We will also discuss how to share, collaborate and publish their slides as these features apply to the classroom.

Google Apps - Gmail Basics

During this first session on Gmail, we will discuss the basics of using Gmail in the classroom. We will discuss how to organize your inbox and messages by setting inbox types, marking important messages and applying filters. We’ll also discuss other key features for organization, including the To Do list and Tasks.

Google Apps - Docs

In this session of Docs we will discuss how to create a Google Doc and add content. We’ll show you how to share documents using a variety of access levels including publishing to the web. We will also discuss how to use collaboration options such as revision history and comments in classroom relevant situations. Finally we will demonstrate the benefits of using pre-made templates and how to create your own.

Google Apps - Calendar Advanced

In this session we will discuss the advanced features of events including the use of scheduling in relevant classroom situations. We’ll then discuss all the ways you can share your calendar and collaborate with others. Finally, we’ll discuss how to set up notifications to help keep you organized!

Google Apps - Sites Basics

In this first course on creating a Google Site we will focus on creating a plan for your site that is relevant to your position. Participants will leave the course with a basic site using a user chosen theme and a homepage with a customized layout.

Google Apps - Drive Basics

During this session we will introduce participants to the basics of Drive. We’ll discuss how to upload content into your Drive account and how to convert those documents to Google apps format. Participants will also learn how to view files, in particular video files, and how to connect apps to their Drive account to view a variety of 3rd party files.

Google Apps - Drawings

In this session we will start with the basics of the Drawings apps including the layout and menu options. We will focus our time on the types of content you can add and how to add this content into Drawings. Finally we will discuss sharing and collaboration to create an interactive learning environment.

In this session we will start with the basics of the Drawings apps including the layout and menu options. With digital tools at our fingertips, we can create and tell our stories instantly including personal narratives, explanations of a process, and retelling of events from another point of view. When teachers build digital storytelling into their instruction, students are engaged in a creative learning experience that is strongly connected with reading, writing, and speaking across the curriculum.
