What's New in iOS 12?

In this course, we will explore the most effective and exciting features iOS 12 has to offer. Released in June 2018, the iOS 12 operating system is sure to help teachers create an engaging learning environment for their students. Teq DTC: Apple Session 9 - Final Assignment

It's the beginning of the end - of our Apple Digital Teacher Certification track, that is. During this last session we will review your final assignment, and go over how to integrate each of the apps to make a complete final presentation. Join us to wrap up your learning into one cohesive presentation, and receive your Teq Digital Teacher Certification!

Teq DTC: Apple Session 8 - iMovie

iMovie is a fantastic tool to expand your teacher toolkit and help students express their learning in new ways. Session 8 of our Apple Digital Teacher Certification will focus on bringing media into the classroom through the use of short movies and trailers. Give your students a new way of presenting their work, reaching out to the community, and showcasing their skills through this great multimedia platform.

Teq DTC: Apple Session 7 - GarageBand

No musical abilities are required for the 7th session of our Apple Digital Teacher Certification. We will be showing you some of the basic features of GarageBand to help bring music into your classroom, whether you have a music background, or not! Loops, tracks, notes, and exporting your music are just a few of the things we will be discussing in this musical of a session.

In this session, you'll learn how to create engaging presentations to make the most of your lesson content. Teq DTC: Apple Session 5 - Numbers

In session 5 of our Apple Digital Teacher Certification, our Curriculum Specialists will show you how to organize and analyze data with Numbers. Numbers gives a creative twist to a spreadsheet application, incorporating charts, pictures, text, and even videos to help students understand and showcase data in a whole new way. Session 4 of our Apple Digital Teacher Certification focuses on the use of Pages in the classroom. Teq DTC: Apple Session 1 - Introduction

Welcome to the first session of our Apple Digital Teacher Certification. Apple's Pages: Enhancing Documents

Pages is a powerful word processing software available on a variety of Apple devices. Join our session to discover how to enhance and customize your documents to support your students and transform your classroom into a positive learning environment. We'll discuss how to introduce a paperless assignment process, how to develop creative templates, and how to encourage a collaborative workflow.

Literacy Apps for Early Education

Come take a look at some great apps to help promote early literacy and writing skills in your early education classroom. During this course we will explore Little Writer, Story Dice and epic.  These apps have several pre-loaded activities as well as some customizable features to help with early writing, phonics, vocabulary,  storytelling and critical thinking skills. In this course we show you have these apps apply to all types of learners and can allow for some differentiation in you classroom.  We will also go over some customizable settings on the iPad to make things easier for pre-readers and little fingers. The activities on these apps align with NAEYC and common core early learning standards.

Representing Data in Charts

The purpose of a chart is to visualize data in a way that accurately represents the story a dataset is telling. Tools like Excel, Google Sheets, and Numbers offer a wide variety of chart options and it is sometimes difficult to decide which works best for your purpose and identify which don’t work at all. Join us as we discuss what components are important in various chart types and the ways you can help students choose the appropriate chart for their dataset!

Using your iPad to Support English Language Learners

Explore how teachers and students benefit from using iPads in the ELL classroom. For example, did you know that Siri can translate your student's speech to text or voice in another language? Well, that's just one of the many features we will discover throughout this course! 

Identifying Effective Classroom Technology Usage

What makes a great technology-infused lesson?  How can you encourage teachers to better utilize their available classroom technology more effectively? Participants will leave this session with an understanding of two popular model frameworks for integrating technology tools: SAMR and T-PACK. Administrators will be better able to motivate their teachers into higher levels of effective technology usage, and teachers will be able to do lesson planning to enable deeper understanding and increased engagement from their students.

With new multitasking features, Markup options with Apple Pencil, and more potential for augmented reality in games and apps the updates to Apple’s iOS are sure to create more engaging learning opportunities for students in the classroom!

Project Based Learning with the iPad

Explore how teachers and students benefit from using iPads in the classroom. Work with apps and see how they facilitate research on a topic, in order to create a product and share this creation with others. This course supports multiple Common Core Standards, including Writing W.3 and W.6

Apple Classroom

Classroom is a powerful mobile device management system built specifically for iPads. With this tool teachers can lock student screens, let students share thier work through the Apple TV, share documents with students, see what students are working on and reset forgotten passwords! Join us as we show you how to leverage the power of this tool to manage your classroom. 

Apps to Support the Special Education Teacher (A.S.S.E.T.)

This iPad-centric course will cover a variety of skill based and creation apps that are useful in the Special Ed classroom. The session will not just cover the functionality of the apps but best practices to incorporate these apps effectively with students. For example: Using iPads as a Center, for assessment or as a behavior management tool. The session will also reveal some of the best kept accessibility secrets the iPad has to offer to reach all types of learners.

In this course, the PD team will explore the most effective and exciting features iOS 10 has to offer!  Released in September 2016, the iOS 10 operating system is sure to help teachers create an engaging learning environment for their students.  Updates to notifications and live broadcasting options within apps are some of the biggest changes that users will come to understand better after participating in this session!

Creating Multi-Touch Books with iBooks Author

The new generation, referred to as Gen Z, is growing up in a world where everyday they are immersed in technology. Students have become producers and creators of content, desiring to put their skills to use in the classroom and sometimes publish it to the world. The iBooks Author Apple application allows students to view interactive textbooks with 3D images, highlighting and note taking capabilities, study cards, and sharing. Students can also create their own material to support the way they learn and share it in multiple ways. Discover how to encourage Gen Z’s passion for technology and the fundamental way they interacts with the world by creating with iBooks Author!

Digital Storytelling with iMovie 10.1

...Things are getting spooky around here at Teq!  In preparation for Halloween, the PD team has prepared an exciting session that will discuss how teachers and students can utilize iMovie 10.1 to demonstrate creativity and convey elements of effective storytelling. We’ll point out useful updates and fantastic features including Trailer Templates, Storyboards, and Outlines that will help transform the ordinary classroom into an innovative film studio!  See you there in your scary-wear!

Organize and Effectively Use Your Computer: Mac

Join us to learn some basic ways to keep your computer content organized and enhance your knowledge of programs that you can use in the classroom. We will be discussing how to successfully create and save documents, how to create favorites in an appropriate web browser, and how to organize all of this great content for easy access for your Mac computer.

Apple iPad apps: ELA

In this session of Teq Online PD we will be showing you some of our favorite Apple iPad apps for use in the ELA classroom! We will demonstrate the use of English Grammar quizzes for kids with the use of mobile devices, show you how you can easily transform hard copied documents and articles to your device for translation and edits, and provide instruction for English language learners through completely free applications.

Join our PD team as we explore some of our top educational apps in science. Remember building a solar system in school? We have an app that will take this project to a whole new level with more interactivity than ever before. Going Further with iMovie

It's time to take digital storytelling into spooky places this Halloween, with tools that will make creative teachers and students alike scream! When teachers build digital storytelling into their instruction, students are engaged in a creative learning experience that is strongly connected with reading, writing, and speaking across the curriculum. In this course, we will continue exploring the resources available in iMovie for Mavericks OS X , with a focus on advanced tools such as green screen effects, picture-in-picture editing, and the use of keywords on footage. This activity will present ways these tools can help students and teachers create more dynamic and refined examples of digital storytelling for any occasion-no matter how scary.
