Digital DBQs in the Social Studies Classroom

Effective Document Based Questions (DBQs) can be used to develop students' abilities to appreciate historical perspectives and hone analytical skills. In this course you will learn how to use the interactive whiteboard software to create DBQ activities and templates that will encourage inquiry and critical thinking. DBQ are the cornerstone of the key element of the Common Core ELA ?Informational Text requirements and necessity. Together we will construct DBQs using Interactive Whiteboard Tools to capture test questions acquired from the NYSED website and manipulate them in Notebook. In addition, we will use websites like National Archives, online copies of letters and diaries, or the Library of Congress, to demonstrate how to copy a document into the Notebook software and have students examine primary sources. Like detectives, your students will follow a set of clues to draw conclusions and make observations.
