New York State CTLE Requirements

Teq’s New York State Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) Webinar provides a brief overview of the new regulations required by educators (Teachers, Teaching Assistants, and Administrators) to maintain their Certifications in NYS. The Webinar provides school and district leaders with valuable information on the CTLE Requirements, CTLE Approved Sponsors or Providers of Professional Development, as well as an overview of Teq’s CTLE Approved Professional Development, which includes our Onsite CTLE Approved Courses, our over 900 Online CTLE Approved Courses, and access to over 10 hours of “Free” CTLE Approved Courses via our “Getting Started” Site. Introducing STEM Role Models Through Literacy

Why are role models so important? Some reasons to have a role model include inspiration, learning how to overcome struggles, and garnering the traits of a successful individual to become the best version of you. It's important to provide students with numerous opportunities to find role models for themselves. As educators, we may sometimes want to suggest role models for specific behaviors and characteristics we think our students would benefit from — like opening up the world of STEM, for instance. Implementing a 3D Design Challenge with Tinkercad

Tinkercad is a popular, web-based computer aided design software. Although simple, users can make complex designs using this software. This course will show how a user can use basic shapes and techniques to create a scale model of a house. Lastly, we’ll take a look at the Cura software to prepare our design for print.

Engaging Kinesthetic Learners with SparkFun Picoboards

Looking for ways to engage your hands on learners in computer science? SparkFun’s Picoboard Starter Kit may be your answer! The input from the Picoboard kit sensors allows you to create simple interactive programs using MIT’s block based programming language, Scratch! The kit is an effective way to combine physical computing and software coding. Included in the kit is a light sensor, sound sensor, a button and a slider, as well as four additional inputs that can sense electrical resistance via included cables. SMART Learning Suite & Flash

SMART Learning Suite and SMART Notebook 17.0 and higher no longer support Flash Activities and gallery items. This session will review the Flash content that will automaically convert in newer versions of SMART and provide some alternatives for creating engaging activtiies using SMART lab that provide a more relaiable and engaging experience with using SMART Notebook. Flash activities and items have historically been a part of SMART Notebook and SMART Learning Suite. Over the past 3 years, SMART has been slowly moving away from Flash and converting interactives to HTML 5, which is a more robust and relaible technology.

Labdisc: Heart Rate

In this course we'll look at just one of the many applications of a Labdisc in the Biology classroom. You will need a BioChem Labdisc to perform this activity. Our Curriculum Specialists will show you how to conduct an experiment to measure heart rate using the heart rate sensor provided with your Labdisc. They will then show you how to analyze and manipulate the data within the Labdisc software.

Preparing Your Google Drive for a New School Year
